We offer a wide range of products and services suitable for refrigerated transport by road, rail and sea, including the full range of refrigerants used in traditional transport refrigeration systems, such as R134a, R404A, R407A, R744 and R452A. We are continually updating our range, and introducing new gases.
Transport refrigeration services use refrigerants in order to maintain a consistent temperature in the cargo area. Transport refrigeration is commonly used to carry foodstuffs and other temperature-sensitive goods. In addition to refrigerant gases, dry ice and carbon dioxide are also used.
Transport refrigeration systems can be found in a range of contexts, including trucks and refrigerated containers and reefers. There are both direct and indirect refrigeration systems, providing the flexibility to cool entire trailers, or those divided into multiple sections. Effective refrigeration systems are vital for the food industry, with refrigeration processes also used for carriage of pharmaceutical products.
Refrigerated containers
Refrigerated containers are used for transportation of temperature-sensitive loads, such as foodstuffs. The containers can be transferred between trucks, trains and ships. We supply a range of refrigerant gases suitable for servicing these containers for example R134A, R404A, R452A and R744.
Reefers
Reefers are refrigerated cargo ships designed to carry large quantities of temperature-sensitive goods, such as foodstuffs. These ships often have integrated refrigeration units which use gases such as R134a and R717.
New refrigerants
The use of refrigerants for transportation is regulated by the EU F-gas Regulation (EU/517/2014), the purpose of which is to reduce environmental impact. New refrigerants are being developed on an ongoing basis, with old ones successively replaced.
